I Love You, Man

Alright so, I totally got an awesome opportunity tonight - I got to see a private screening of a movie. This has not happened for me before. The movie? I Love You, Man. Not only was this movie hilarious, but the actors were great, as was the story-line. Now, it is a little twist off of a combination of other movies but it is pretty original. The only problem I had with it, was that it took a bit too long to get to the climax of the story. Sure, it was great to see the friendship develop, but at the same time, I even caught myself looking at my watch. This rarely happens, as I am such an avidly fanatically-minded person, but when it does happen, it's for a reason. This time, it's because the development of Peter & Sydney's relationship took a bit too long. However, as sexual as some of the jokes were, the costumes were fine, the lighting was great, transitions and shots were put together beautifully, and most of the wide frames were good. However, some of the moving wide...

Epic Movie

A complete and total waste of an hour and a half. Seriously. The only good part of the movie were SOME of the costumes. The movie took parts of Narnia, Harry Potter, Snakes on a Plane, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The DaVinci Code, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harold & Kumar go to White Castle, X-Men, Nacho Libre, MTV's Cribs, Click, some Jackie Chan moves, Flavor of Love, Borat, Star Wars, James Bond, and of course American Pie. I am sure there are more that I missed, but as I said, it was a waste of time, and I barely paid attention to it. However, I decided to stick it out. The filming was pretty bad, although a lot of the accents were good. The costumes for the Narnia part were fairly accurate, and Chewbacca and the Storm Troopers were correct (minus Chewbacca's blue hair, of course). However, the outfits for the Charlie/Chocolate Factory were totally off (Willy Wonka looked REALLY creepy), the Oompa-Loompas were just WRONG, the shots of the entire movie were okay, c...

Teacher/Student "Sex Crimes"

Okay so, I was watching this program about all the "sex crimes" of teacher/student relationships. Now, I can understand how some of the cases are sexual exploitation. However, does that mean all of them are? Sure, many teenage boys have a fantasy of having sex with their 'hot, young teacher', which I think is completely normal. As well as some teenage girls have similar fantasies. But, if these fantasies are played out, as in, the student and teacher have a sexual relationship, how different can their relationship be, than one of a teenager, and an adult the same age as one of those teachers, but of another occupancy? Is it really much different, if say, while I was in high school, I had a sexual relationship with a teacher the age of 25, when I was 16; versus, having a sexual relationship with a 25 year old college student, or office worker (not at the school) while I was 16? I'm not saying that ever happened to me - no, I never had teachers whose age was anywher...

"The Day The Earth Stood Still" 2008 version

Okay so, I saw "The Day The Earth Stood Still" last night, but I have yet to actually develop any actual feelings towards the movie. It didn't seem to sink in. I know the plot line, and I saw how it was made, etc, but I can't seem to develop any kind of opinion or feelings towards it. I did have fun - my two good friends, Sean and Tynan took me out, and we had a lot of fun. Although I was sooo cold in that theatre! About 1/2 hour into the movie Sean offered me his jacket but I'm too stubborn. Although, when there was 1/2 hour left in the movie, I finally took it. Although the movie is a remake, I have a feeling that the plot deviates a little bit. But, some people tell me that it is only an okay version than the original. The costumes were very intriguing, though. I am not quite sure what year it was supposed to be set in, though, so I can only assume by the costumes that it is placed in modern day, most likely in 2008 or the past few, or next few years. The ...

Thomas, the pregnant man

Earlier this year, a man named Thomas Beatie had a child. Although physically, he is actually a woman, he had been taken testosterone. But when wife Nancy couldn't have children, they decided Thomas (formally called Tracy) would have their little baby girl Susan or July 29, 2008. Now, Thomas is pregnant again. The problem here, is that many people do not see them as a "normal" family. Because technically, these children will grow up with two mothers. However, I believe that they are still a family. Even though their children will probably find out that daddy is not 100% male once they are old enough, they will see daddy and mommy growing up. I don’t see this family any differently than how I would view a homosexual couple, or a heterosexual couple. True, the Beaties children will grow up with only one biological parent, many other couples have had to resort to donation, or surrogate mothers in order to have their children. They love each other, and love their childre...

Beowulf

Okay so, WOW!!!! This movie was visually staggering!!!! Between the intimate scenes and the animation, I could not tell what was real and what was fake at some points in the movie!!!! Okay so, I know, the movie came out like, 2 or 3 months ago, and I haven't been keeping you guys updated. AND I'M SORRY ABOUT IT!!!! But man, does senior year freaking KILL you, if you have a crazy mother, who is like, best friends with one of your teachers. Anywhos-- So, back to Beowulf. Alright well, after I saw the movie, I just had to see if there was anything else to the story. Now, I feel stupid admitting this but, I did not know that it was a poem. I know, I know.... how shameful, right? Well, anyways, so, when I got home, well, more like the day or two after, I googlified Beowulf and guess what!? There is like, half of the story missing!!!! I'm so shocked, right? I mean hello, it HOLLYWOOD!, Captain Obvious! But still, I mean, if you are going to take something so monumental, ...

Godfather Series

Alright, so I FINALLY got to see the third Godfather!!!! My sister got the set for my dad on his birthday.... it took us like, 2 and half months to see all three. LOL I thought that the first and third were the best out of the series. The second one seemed to have jumped around so much, that I lost myself a couple of times, trying to figure some stuff out. The first one was amazing!!!! --grainy texture to the film, the variety of actors, the clothes, the props, and of course, the locations. Everything just went together so well. The third was amazing as well, since Al Pacino was at the top of his game. The second was made beautifully, just like the first, but the story jumped around so much, it often takes a few minutes (sometimes when it went back to the original event) to realize what is going on. Granted, there are other movies out there that are similar, but they are not a part of a series. Francis Ford Coppola did a wonderful job with all three movies in the series, but ...
