"The Day The Earth Stood Still" 2008 version

Okay so, I saw "The Day The Earth Stood Still" last night, but I have yet to actually develop any actual feelings towards the movie. It didn't seem to sink in. I know the plot line, and I saw how it was made, etc, but I can't seem to develop any kind of opinion or feelings towards it. I did have fun - my two good friends, Sean and Tynan took me out, and we had a lot of fun. Although I was sooo cold in that theatre! About 1/2 hour into the movie Sean offered me his jacket but I'm too stubborn. Although, when there was 1/2 hour left in the movie, I finally took it. Although the movie is a remake, I have a feeling that the plot deviates a little bit. But, some people tell me that it is only an okay version than the original. The costumes were very intriguing, though. I am not quite sure what year it was supposed to be set in, though, so I can only assume by the costumes that it is placed in modern day, most likely in 2008 or the past few, or next few years. The actors were wearing the same clothing we have been wearing, and will probably be wearing until at least 2010.
The effects were pretty cool. The lasers that the 'protection robot' had, the 'bugs' that ate every human-made and human in their path. That was pretty cool. Interesting concept. The 'bugs' looked like they were made of some kind of metal. How they made them i beyond me, but all I know is that it intrigued me. Actually, it intrigues me.
But alas, since I have not really developed any particular feelings toward the movie, I guess my review ends here. I think I will have to watch it again to determine what I really feel towards it. Or maybe I should watch the original? What do you think?
So, until next time--

Thomas, the pregnant man

Earlier this year, a man named Thomas Beatie had a child. Although physically, he is actually a woman, he had been taken testosterone. But when wife Nancy couldn't have children, they decided Thomas (formally called Tracy) would have their little baby girl Susan or July 29, 2008. Now, Thomas is pregnant again.
The problem here, is that many people do not see them as a "normal" family. Because technically, these children will grow up with two mothers. However, I believe that they are still a family. Even though their children will probably find out that daddy is not 100% male once they are old enough, they will see daddy and mommy growing up. I don’t see this family any differently than how I would view a homosexual couple, or a heterosexual couple. True, the Beaties children will grow up with only one biological parent, many other couples have had to resort to donation, or surrogate mothers in order to have their children. They love each other, and love their children. That is all that matters.
I know that a whole butt load of controversy surrounds this topic, and that the waters must be tread lightly but, I am going to plunge in here.
Yes, it may not seem like a normal, Christian way of life. However, I do not think that other people have the right to judge others negatively. I mean honestly, if you were in that same situation, what would you do? Including this debate, the topics of gay marriage, homosexuality, 'test-tube babies', and more come about. I think that everything happens for a reason. One can not define another's life, unless asked for an opinion. And, I know that the majority of my family, if not all of them, will probably rebuke my debate on all of these topics.
But nevertheless, the idea of a man carrying a child may seem taboo. But just think about it - if you didn't feel normal growing up, feeling like your body was just wrong, like something was wrong, then, you too would (have) probably get/gotten a sex change. Or at least start taking hormones. Now, the next thing is that Thomas' wife already knew about all of this, but, she still loves him. Because guess what - love knows no boundaries! I know that is terribly cliche of me, but it is true. Once you find that perfect match, all obstacles disappear. And in this case of Thomas and Nancy Beatie, that love knew only one boundary - how to have a child. But, they were determined, and took a risk. And really, it wasn't that big of a risk - they knew that they were going to run into people not condoning what they were and are doing but, they said screw it. We want kids, and we found a way for it to happen.
So now my friends, now that we can prove that a person legally classified as a man can have babies, can we move onto the topic of allowing same-sex marriages? I mean honestly, if this case proves anything, it proves that love doesn't give half of a damn who or what you are. Only that you are.
So, until next time--
